POSITION VACANT: INVESTIGATIVE ASSISTANT- AUSTRALIAN LOCALLY ENGAGED STAFF (LES)- AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE

The Australian High Commission is seeking to fill an Investigative Assistant position within the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Singapore Office. The position is offered on a permanent part time basis of three (3) days per week. Normal office hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and flexibility is preferable. Overtime may be required occasionally. Monthly salary will be S$1,866.00. A bonus of 1.5 month’s salary is paid annually in December.

The security clearance for this position involves a very stringent process and therefore you must be an Australian Citizen to apply. The successful applicant will not be able to commence in the position until the clearance has been confirmed and this process is expected to take some months. The position is for an immediate start once the suitable clearances have been obtained.


DUTY STATEMENT

1. Provide investigative and administrative support to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Counsellor (Police Liaison), Singapore Office.

2. Manage and maintain an efficient file/correspondence management system using computerised inward/outward correspondence registers and cross-referencing to master files (Classified and Sensitive material only).

3. Maintain a computerised intelligence database (Microsoft Access) of all contacts which come to the attention of the Australian Federal Police Singapore Office (Classified and Sensitive material only).

4. Undertake AFPNET PROMIS system data input, data extraction, linking and associated duties.

5. Continually review existing office procedures and where appropriate recommend changes which improve efficiency and effectiveness of the operation of the office.

6. Undertake the administrative duties of other Locally Engaged Staff (LES) attached to the AFP Singapore office during periods of absence/leave.

7. Liaise with other High Commission staff, relevant Government agencies in Australia and foreign government officials.

8. Maintain an AFP accepted security clearance.

SELECTION CRITERIA

• An Australian Citizen. Hold or be able to obtain an Australian Top Secret security clearance. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to security classifications.

• Sound interpersonal, oral and written skills.

• Ability to follow directions, determine priorities and meet agreed deadlines while working with limited supervision. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Knowledge and use of standard software applications including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

• Ability to develop a sound understanding of the AFP information and technology systems.
