supernatural artificial
Contemporary photo-based art from Australia
supernatural artificial
An Asialink and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces exhibition presented by the Australian High Commission in partnership with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts
Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Gallery 3
16 June to 7 July 2006
For decades, the ‘truth’ of the photographic image has been touted as its most wondrous quality. The works in this exhibition play with the capacity of photography to do exactly the opposite – to create images glorying in the fictional, the slippery, the mysterious, the ghostly and the fake. As a result, our vision of the world is expanded, distorted, questioned, illuminated and played with. By their very nature, the works in the exhibition move us to reconsider the nature of our surroundings.
Curated by Natalie King and featuring works by Pat Brassington, Cherine Fahd, Eliza Hutchison, Tracey Moffatt, David Noonan & Simon Trevaks, Darren Siwes, Darren Sylvester, Monika Tichacek and Anne Zahalka.
Supported by Objectifs – Centre for Photography and Filmmaking.
Presented as part of the Singapore Arts Festival.
