How can I get a job in Australia
- You must arrange your employment before entry to Australia and have the employer sponsor you, so you can obtain a visa that allows you to work in Australia. For information about sponsorship by employers for temporary visas see www.immi.gov.au.
- You cannot arrive in Australia on a visitor or student visa and seek employment.
- Nationals of some countries (who are under 31 years of age) are able to obtain a Working Holiday visa or a Work and Holiday visa that allows short term employment combined with visiting Australia for up to one year. Singapore nationals are currently NOT entitled to Working Holiday or Work and Holiday visas. See http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/index.htm for more details and a list of eligible nationalities.
- If you wish to seek employment in Australia, good starting points are on-line recruitment services, international recruitment agencies and the classified sections of the Australian newspapers (Type "newspapers" in the search field). The Australian High Commission in Singapore does NOT have information on job opportunities in Australia or a list of employers.
