Application for Registration of Australian Citizenship by Descent
Please note that all items listed below must be presented at time of application to allow processing of the registration application within the service standard.
It is not necessary for children to be present at the time of application.
Please present the original and ONE photocopy of the following documents.
1. Form 118 (See http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/118.pdf) completed and signed by the responsible Australian citizen parent.
2. Child’s original birth certificate listing details of natural parents.
3. One passport sized photograph of child (the photograph must be endorsed by an Australian citizen not related to the applicant, employed in an occupation listed in Form 118, who has known the applicant for 12 months (unless the applicant is under 6 years of age).
4. Both parents’ current passports and marriage certificate (if married).
5. Both parents’ Singapore Identity Card (if applicable).
6. For parents who were born in Australia, their original Birth Certificate.
7. For parents who obtained Citizenship by Descent, their original Extract from Register of Australian Citizenship by Descent certificate.
8. For parents who obtained Australian citizenship by grant, the original certificate.
9. If mother is an Australian citizen and has changed her name upon marriage,
proof of her maiden name (ie. marriage certificate).
10. If any person has had a legal change of name, the document showing the name change (eg. original Deed Poll).
11. Completed Declaration by Parents form (see http://www.singapore.embassy.gov.au/sing/files/declofparents.pdf) (that the child is not adopted).
Provided that the above documentation is lodged in full at time of application, we will make every effort to finalize processing within five working days.
If the child requires an Australian passport please contact the Consular Section at the High Commission (ph: 6836 4100) for information concerning passport application procedures. An Australian passport cannot be obtained until the Citizenship by Descent certificate has been issued.

IMPORTANT: The name on the Citizenship Certificate will be as listed on the child’s birth certificate. If you would like the order of names changed please indicate your preference in the application and advise the Counter staff of this request. Please note that a change will only be agreed to if it conforms to standard naming conventions.
